1945 - During the last days of World War 2 storehouse and planing machine situated in Salzburg/Bayerhamerstraße were entirely destroyed by a bomb attack of more than 25 incendiary bombs. Offices located in the shanties are also completely lost. Furthermore all 4 carriages of trimmed timber are confiscated by Russian troops and used as firewood. Altogether enemy action made the company loose approximately 1000 cbm of wood.
After the end of the war reconstruction of the company without any financial resources began. Since the real estate was in possession of someone else, Mr. Josef Hopferwieser had to start from the very beginning – a small planing machine was constructed and the lumber export has been carried on. |
